Karen Walstra

My name is Karen Walstra, and I am the High School Social Studies teacher at Wheatland Crossing School. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, and my teaching journey has taken me across Northern Alberta including Grade Cache and Grande Prairie. I am originally from the Northwest Territories, I’ve always considered myself a small-town person. Growing up in the north has given me a unique perspective on the importance of community and collaboration. These experiences have shaped not only my worldview but also my teaching philosophy. I strive to bring this sense of connection and belonging into my classroom, creating an environment where every student feels valued and supported as we work together to explore and understand the world. I am proud to be a member of the Wheatland Crossing Staff and look forward to continuing my journey teaching the students in this area.
