Christmas at Wheatland Crossing News

Dear Parents, Friends and Family,

As the cold weather continues to keep us in our school, we know the Christmas countdown is in full swing. Here at Wheatland Crossing, the weeks ahead are filled with many exciting things we would like to share.

Annual Wheatland Crossing Food Drive
This year, our educational community has grown and welcomed some exciting changes!  As we grow and learn together, it is important that our students see us demonstrate the difference we can make within our community and those surrounding us. Each year, we collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit those families struggling in our area.  As we all know, this year has been exceptionally difficult for some.  Together we can make a difference for those families trying to keep these basic needs met.

We invite you and your children to participate in our Foodbank Challenge! Please send non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and detergents to the school during the week of December 12 – 16, 2016.  Our students have been given the challenge to fill Mr. Latta’s office with donations!

Please send these items to the school with your child and please feel free to purchase a $5 or $10 donation package that will be available outside of the Christmas concerts next week.We look forward to a successful campaign and hope that the discussion about social responsibility can be shared at home as well as at school.

Elementary School Christmas Concerts

We would like to invite everyone out to our annual Christmas concerts this year.

The concerts will be held on the following days:
Grades 4-6 Wednesday Dec 14 6:30
Grades K-3 Thursday Dec 15 6:30

Due to the number of students and expected parents, we are splitting the two concerts. Double your pleasure! Our students have been working hard to prepare evening to help celebrate the festive season.Doors will open at 5:45pm and students can come and be in their classes after 6:00.

We have a few things going on that evening
  • Standard Playschool will also be operating a bake sale to help kick off your Christmas baking.

  • Bring your food bank donations to help pack Mr. Latta’s office

  • Tour the school and check out the amazing Christmas Door Decorating Challenge that our classrooms worked hard to complete

We look forward to seeing you out!

School Christmas Dinner

There are many things that people look forward to each holiday season, and one that is special to us is our school Christmas dinner. It is a great opportunity for us to sit down together and share in one of the special moments of the holidays. Turkey! For those who are new to our school, on December 22, all staff and students sit together and enjoy a holiday dinner including Turkey, Potatoes, stuffing and gravy! Sorry parents, this one is for students only….

We hope that you have a great few weeks as we lead up to Christmas and that the holiday season finds you sharing great memories with family and friends.

Sincerely Yours,
Karen Smith                Sean Latta
